Every year we try to take one holiday that is purely for relaxation and family time together. This year we ventured to Tenerife!
Tenerife is the largest and most populated of the seven Canary Islands, it is also the most populated island of Spain. It has a surface area of 2,034 square kilometers (785 miles) and is located over 1000 kilometers (620 miles) from the Coast of Spain. About five million tourists visit Tenerife each year, the most of any Canary Island. Tenerife also has the highest elevation of Spain and it is said that El Teide, is the third largest volcano in the world at 3,718 metres above sea level.
We stayed in the Iberostar Anthelia Hotel, located in Costa Adeje. It was a beautiful location, the above photo was taken from the balcony hallway outside our room. There were 3 pools on the property and the beach was literally right out the back gate.
The beach was amazing! The sand was black volcanic sand which was a first for us! Sitting there while the kids played, Keith and I sat in awe of the amazing views. Ocean on one side and a volcano to the other.
Aiden and Ryan enjoyed playing in the sand together!
Keith and Mandy enjoyed the water and waves!
This was the trip that started Aiden's love of boats!
An after dinner stroll...
One afternoon, Keith took Mandy and Ryan down to the boardwalk. There was a section for the kids to play mini-golf, arcade games and trampolining. While they were off having fun, I took Aiden for a walk (ie: nap) in the opposite direction. The views were AMAZING. While Aiden slept, I took photos hoping to capture a bit of the beauty.
Once Aiden woke up, we went to meet up with the rest of the family. Mandy and Keith decided to try a ride on a segway. While they were off crashing into things, Aiden, Ryan and I scouted out the lizards along our walk.

Ready for our flight!
We had such a wonderful time in Tenerife, despite a 24 hr stomach bug hitting Ryan and Aiden on our last day! We got to relax, enjoy some sun and warmth and spend some much needed time together. I would highly recommend checking out this fabulous island!
